End of a Holiday
Friday
Went to Les Eyzies and La Grande Roc in the morning.
Spent the afternoon packing, which wasn't easy because the boot jammed shut. Must be the heat. Swam.
Saturday
Left the cottage 7am. Drove to Alecon and booked into a B&B. Had an early dinner in the restaurant across the car park - Buffalo Bills. It was very relaxed (even with children) and nice food.
T and I spent the evening on the balcony of the motel (we dragged chairs out of the room, so could sit right outside the door. The children couldn't see us but they were safe, we were 'on guard'.) We chatted and watched a storm go over, while the children didn't sleep.
Sunday
Drove to Dieppe. Bread rolls for lunch. There was another huge storm. I like storms, all that raging power and nothing people can do to stop it.
Ferry home.
What a wonderful wonderful holiday.

Wednesday
S was sick all night, L and P were both sick this morning. It is SO hard having a holiday with little children. So hard doing anything in fact, even having a coffee break seems impossible some days unless I shut myself in the cupboard under the stairs. (I sometimes wonder what Harry Potter was complaining about, sounds a blissfully peaceful place to sleep…..)
However, although it is disappointing, I cannot deny that last week was lovely so I do feel like I have had a holiday. Plus, if they are going to be sick, I guess it's nicer here in France than being stuck at home on my own with them while T escapes to work each day. SO, I wont complain, I'll just clean up and cuddle them and take deep breaths of lovely warm French air and gaze at the lovely view.

Tuesday
S was sick twice last night. He is always sick on holidays. Not sure if it's some kind of nervous thing (he sure does not seem nervous) or if he has a really really sensitive stomach and cannot cope with any change of diet/water at all. Shame.
He seems okay today so hopefully holiday will continue tomorrow. The weather is nice so we put him into the buggy and went for a stroll (T carried P, which always worries me in case he trips and drops him but it seemed worth the risk.)
Yesterday we went to a village built into the rock face. We walked up steep footpaths and found derelict houses and caves. Smugglers galore.
Then drove to Domme, which was a bit too 'touristy' for us. Had some nice crepes in a cafe next to the road though. I like the outside cafes in France, they feel different to the ones in England when you wonder why you are sitting outside when there's a perfectly comfy inside with empty tables.
Drove back to cottage via the Intermarche. I nearly bought horse meat by mistake when buying beef. Which I don't quite know why I find that such an awful thought when logically, both are beautiful animals, but I do.
